Multi-instrumentalist Matthew brings to life a diverse catalog of music as a guitarist and lutenist. Along with stylistic and technical nuance, he brings to both instruments a captivating, natural musicality. Originally from State College, Pennsylvania, Matt currently lives and works in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As a solo performer, Matt brings variety to the stage with selections from the renaissance to the twenty-first century. He has recently performed at San Francisco’s Herbst Theater, Hume Concert Hall and Sol Joseph Recital Hall and at Indiana University's Auer and Ford-Crawford Halls. In addition to solo performances, Matt performs in chamber groups such as the Ahorita Ensemble (Latin American dance music) and the Big Meat Combo (Bluegrass). As an ensemble player, Matt has worked with the likes of Joyce DiDonato, Sergio Assad, Meng Su, Richard Savino and John Dearman.

An active teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area, Matt believes in a comprehensive approach to music education that relies on both ear training and technical facility and is further enriched by the study of music theory and history.

Matt received his Bachelor of Music in guitar performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, graduating with highest distinction and he recently received his Masters of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where served as Graduate Assistant for the guitar department while studying guitar with professor David Tanenbaum and lute with professor Richard Savino.
