David
Hailing from the Belmont area of San Mateo County, David has been a staple of the Bay Area music scene for over 20 years. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Piano Studies at UC Santa Cruz in 2003, David discovered a passion for music education, quickly amassing a studio of piano, guitar, and bass guitar students. In addition to his teaching career, David has served as a choral accompanist and vocal coach while gigging throughout Santa Cruz and the South Bay as well as internationally in several choirs, rock groups, and small ensembles. As an active member of MTAC, David incorporates music theory and ear training into his curriculum, and has sent several students through the Certificate of Merit program, with many advancing into the honors level program. David returned to UCSC in 2017 and completed his Master’s Degree in Musicology two years later, focusing on early 20th Century Piano Performance Practices. He now pursues a PhD in Cross Cultural Musicology, and dedicates his time to teaching, performing, and being a loving husband to his wife Melanie, and dedicated father to his 3-year-old son, Liam.
