Joan Shalit (she/her) is a San Francisco-based freelanced violinist. She has performed with the Fox Valley Symphony (WI), Weidner Philharmonic (WI), and served as Associate Concertmaster of the Green Bay Civic Symphony and Concertmaster of the Lawrence Symphony Orchestra (WI). She holds a bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance and Music Education from the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music and has participated in the Philadelphia International Music Festival where she studied with members of the Philadelphia and National Symphony Orchestras. Her love and passion for music and education blossomed as a student at the Golden Gate Philharmonic (CA), and Cazadero Music Camp (CA) where she teaches.

Joan not only strives to inspire students to advance their skills and technique, but also for them to appreciate and recognize the work they are putting into their craft. She enjoys working with students from many backgrounds and utilizes different teaching methods to best fit each student.
