Dr. Yiping's pursuit of expressive piano has led her to be regarded as an artist with unique abilities. She began her piano studies at the age of 4. In 2016, after completing her bachelor's degree at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, she left for Manhattan School of Music to pursue her degree in Master of Music and studied with Professor Daniel Epstein, the first American to perform the Yellow River Concerto in history. In May 2022, after studying under Professor Tian Ying who has won many prestigious awards including the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, Dr. Yiping graduated from the University of Miami with a Doctoral of Musical Arts degree in just 3 years: majoring in Piano Performance with a minor emphasizing in Piano Pedagogy. She has performed throughout China and the United States, including Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hangzhou, New York, Boston, Miami, Kansas, and Michigan.

Her piano competition awards include:

  • 2015: First prize in the Piano Category of Asian Music Competition

  • 2015: Silver Prize in the Piano Category of the Selection for the Chinese Soul National Arts Audition

  • 2016: Third Prize in the Hongtai Piano Competition for Four Hands

Dr. Yiping has over 12 years of experience in piano education and is acquainted with music exams like ABRSM. She is experienced in teaching students from beginner to advanced levels. Ninety percent of her students pass ABRSM with merit and distinction after going through her coaching. With her deep knowledge of performing techniques and music theories, her students not only learn how to play piano but also immerse themselves in the theories behind it through a systematic approach. In August 2019, Dr. Yiping was invited by Xiamen Music School to teach a piano master class to current students. During her doctoral studies, working as an assistant teacher giving group lessons in the piano preparatory program at the University of Miami allowed her to further develop her involvement in piano pedagogy.

Dr. Yiping is also experienced in performing chamber music. While pursuing her doctoral degree at the University of Miami, she performed for the world-renowned conductor Maestro Gerard Schwarz as the appointed pianist, performing his own composition Trio for Horn, Violin & Piano in concerts to great acclaim. He described her as “a pianist of great talent and impressive musical expression.”
