Yoonmi is a composer, pianist, and educator based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She brings a rich background in musical theatre, jazz composition, and performance to her teaching, helping students build strong musical foundations while staying engaged and inspired.

Yoonmi has taught music in a variety of settings, including at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she worked closely with instructors and students on new music and performance. She has also taught core musicianship skills such as harmony, ear training, and sight-singing, giving her a well-rounded approach to music education.

As a composer and music director, Yoonmi has created and performed original works across the U.S. and internationally. Her experience working with performers of all levels informs her teaching style, which emphasizes clear technique, musical expression, and confidence-building.

Yoonmi holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from New York University and a BA in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music. She is passionate about helping students develop not only their musical skills, but also discipline, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.
