Yu began studying piano at the age of six and completed her undergraduate degree in Tianjin, China. She later earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
She is currently a doctoral candidate in Piano Performance at Arizona State University, where she has also served as a Faculty Associate, actively teaching and mentoring students. Dedicated to both performance and pedagogy, she maintains an active schedule as a soloist and collaborative pianist.
In addition to her academic and performance work, Yu is deeply involved in piano pedagogy and professional service. She served as a board member of the Arizona State Music Teachers Association (ASMTA) in 2023 and co-chaired the 2023 ASMTA Honors Recital. She currently serves as a board member of the MTNA ASU Collegiate Chapter, supporting and contributing to the music education community. Her students consistently excel in ABRSM examinations and state-level piano evaluations. Besides structured piano instruction, Yu is a firm believer in innovative music education, offering engaging and inspiring lessons with both musical growth and creativity.
